Based on a larger, late Ming dynasty, Lingbi rock from Lingbi in Anhui province. The original shape of the rock is horizontal and reconstructs a canyon through having two distinctive, separate elements. As with many Lingbi rocks, the shape is reminiscent of flames, captured in time, solidified in rock. This work extends and transforms the original 3D-scanned rock through recombining the separated elements, increasing the flame like qualities. From one side, the work appears closed and assembled from two parts. Form the opposite, the rock appear sporous and hollowed, animating the flame further through recursive incisions and cuts. The meta-morphis 147 cm in height and weights around 1700 kg. The original stone is 60 cm in height and weights about 30kg.
