Emerge into art in a way that moves beyond the traditional gallery experience. Industry Gallery presents a more immersive and immediate slice of the art world; a new vision that appeals to the affluent gallery aficionado and the artistic outliers alike.

“PANTONE PDC” explores the impact of New Media Art on Contemporary Art Forms and Pop-Culture. Industry Gallery is changing up its curatorial tactics by partnering with Nashville curators, Payton Newcomer and Morgan Splawn, to juxtapose the creations of artists from two distinct metropolitan cultures. New Media Artists from Nashville, Tennessee, and Los Angeles, California showcasing the mediums of today: Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Projection Mapping, 3D Printing, and audiovisual installation. Utilizing emerging technologies as a vital centerpiece of the work, “PANTONE PDC” demands interaction, provokes a conversation about our changing digital-centric world and builds a community around these new art forms.

Our modern economy privileges pure profit, momentary transactions, and rapid fluidity. Part of the craft’s anchoring role is that it helps to objectify experience and also to slow down labor. It is not about quick transactions or easy victories. That slow tempo of craft work, of taking the time you need to do something well, is profoundly stabilizing to individuals.

The Craftsman, Richard Sennett

The forms show the primordial moment of cell mitosis. The moment in which a single cell splits and life starts to take shape and react to the environment. The first outreach into an unknown space. The fragile glass cells multiple and populate, yet immediately are in conversation with a foreign species. Similar to the human body, and the ecology of symbiotically interwoven cells and species, the skin of the glass cells is the nurturing ground for the author s interpretation. The alien forms populate the skin like a virus locking onto the cell membrane, a protein in search for a receptor originating from Magnetic Resonance scans of the Authors body. The Craftsmen’s digital DNA is grafted onto the smooth surface to balance the cells in gravity. The scanned cells are shifting their point of mass ever so slightly to coexist in a balance of digital manufacturing. The result is a conversation that takes its origins in the traditional craftsmanship and representation, yet takes the metaphorical to a biological metamorphosis, speculating on where craft, art, and science meet.
